Women pay to pump up
Valerie Block
Sitaras Fitness, the high-end gym frequented by billionaire Jules Kroll and Nascar star Jimmie Johnson, sounds like a testosterone-filled men's club. But high-powered women are paying up for the customized workouts designed by über-trainer John Sitaras, too.
The celebrated fitness guru says 35% to 40% of his 100 members are female. Radiologist Stefanie Zalasin, Deutche Bank Managing Director Jeanette Gorgas and Radha Curpen, a partner in Canadian law firm Osler Hoskin & Harcourt, are among the ladies who lunge. "The women are very serious, they're at the top of their game," says Mr. Sitaras, who personally interviews every member and accepts only those who commit to his rigorous program. "They're just as good as, if not better than, the guys."
Of course, men are still itching to join the 18-month-old, $1,000-a-month club. In fact, Mr. Sitaras just vetted Charlie Rose.
And yes, he'll be accepted after he returns from another moguls club,
Allen & Co.'s annual media conference in Sun Valley, Idaho. ![]()
